Individual Income Tax Return Preparation – Form 1040
I offer individual federal and state tax return preparation services at competitive prices. In general, as additional tax forms are required the complexity and time required to prepare increases. My fee structure has been set with this in mind.
Your privacy and data security are of paramount importance to me. For this reason, I offer complimentary access to Intuit Link. Intuit Link creates a convenient and secure location for you to upload your sensitive documents and for me to retrieve them from. I will accept paper documents on request.
Being married to a FCPS teacher has taught me the importance of valuing our teachers and the impact they have on our children. For that reason, I offer an across the board discount of 5% to all teachers. This includes private school and pre / after school teachers.
I offer preparation of Form 1040 – U.S. Federal Individual Income Tax Return and one state income tax return in my minimum charge.
In addition to tax return preparation, you will receive the following benefits:
- Free e-signature of tax forms
- Access to & use of Intuit Link
- Electronic filing of both federal & state tax returns
- Electronic (.pdf) copy of your returns. I will provide a paper copy if desired (additional fee for printing)
I am happy to prepare any individual tax return regardless of complexity. A standard tax return usually consists of a W-2 from an employer and a standard deduction. In addition to a standard tax return, I am positioned to prepare returns including any (or all!) of the following:
- Schedule A – Itemized Deductions
- The IRS authorizes taxpayers to take the larger of the standard deduction or to separately add up their own deductions (itemized deductions)
- Typical examples of common (and large) itemized deductions include home mortgage interest, state income and property taxes, medical expenses, and charitable donations
- Schedule B – Interest & Ordinary Dividends
- This form is required when taxable interest / dividends exceeds $1,500
- Schedule C – Profit or Loss from Business (Sole Proprietorship)
- Applies to businesses such as sole proprietorships and limited liability companies
- Independent contractors are also required to file Schedule C. Common examples include rideshare and delivery drivers, childcare workers, and barbers / hairdressers
- If you are an independent contractor, be prepared to claim all your business expenses as deductions to reduce your taxable income
- Schedule D – Capital Gains & Losses
- Reports gains / losses on assets sold during the year
- Major assets typically included on Schedule D are real estate and stocks / bonds
- Important note; losses beyond any capital gains can be deducted (up to $3K) against other income sources
- Schedule E – Supplemental Income & Loss (for rental real estate, royalties, partnerships, S corporations, estates, trusts, REMICs, etc.)
- Utilized by landlords to report rental income and expenses. Schedule E is also utilized by business owners who receive a K-1
- Schedule F –Profit or Loss from Farming
- Reports income and expenses from farming
- Schedule H – Household Employment Taxes
- Report household employment taxes for cash wages paid to a household employee when the wages were subject to social security, Medicare, or FUTA taxes, or if you withheld federal income tax.
- Common examples of household employees include nannies, housekeepers, and personal assistants.
- Schedule EIC – Earned Income Credit
- If you qualify for the Earned Income Credit then Schedule EIC is used to provide qualifying information

I offer partnership federal and state tax return preparation service. Please keep in mind partnership tax returns are due on the 15th day of the third month following the end of the tax year.
